Evolution Academy

Evolution Academy is a large school built on a secluded island. Students are brought here from around the world to study. Dorms were constructed on the west side of the school because students will remain at the school for the day they start until the day they graduate. This school is special, for students that are unique and need to develop in an environment that's friendly to them. One weekend a month, students are taken ashore to shop and do whatever else they'd like without any pressures from the school.

But Evolution Academy isn't everything that it may seem. Students aren't invited to the school, they're taken to it by force. Dark suited men and women, called Sweepers, bring unconscious or drugged students to the Academy. The students aren't normal humans. Born to a world that has difficulty accepting its own shortcomings, these children were born with powers only ever imagined. And in recent years, there's been a surge of these children. Within the past two decades, there's been more than three special children discovered in each state when it used to be difficult to find three in an entire country.

Evolution Academy 'collects' them. The school is a front for the organization called Evolution. A group dedicated to discovering the source of these abilities through various tests and experiments. Some of the scientists, who double as teachers in the school, are kinder than others. While other could care less about their subjects well-being.

Recent Events: Alysia and Nathan converse in a classroom, getting to know eachother. Luna sits quietly in another classroom waiting for her next class to start. Myst sit's in an administative room near the front of the main school building, after reporting a student for attempting to start a revolution. Adrexa and the twins, Kihara and Keith, hide in Adrexa's special hide-out, in order to avoid going to class. Lopal and Maria, having been reunited, seal themselves in Lopal's dorm room and share a romantic moment.

Adrexa returned his gaze "Where would we go... I mean I understand you two wanting to leave, but this is my home. Its the only place I've ever known.." She understood his want for a revolution, but she would be alone again. There is nothing outside of this place for her. Then again, there is nothing in this place for her. She sighs softly running her fingers through the grass. "I-If we did... What happens to those who resist us?" Not that she really cared, but its a thought. She really would rather not be a murder.

Maria, laying atop Lopal with her head resting on his chest, laughed at his comment. She felt completely relaxed, laying there with him. She could hear his heart beating away in his chest. Kah-thud...kah-thud...kah-thud... It was almost hypnotic. She began to drift away. Suddenly she was somewhere else. The heart beats had become foot falls, loud, echoing in the empty space. She was hiding, her fear growing as the booming footsteps grew nearer. Suddenly she was blinded by a light. Behind the light she could make out the shape of a man, pressed suit, shiny shoes, straight tie. He reached out a hand to grab her and... She sat up, with a start and a yell. She was back in Lopal's dorm room, sitting next to him on his bed. there was a bead of sweat running down her back and she could feel her heart thumping in her chest.

Lopal's eyelids felt somewhat heavy, and as much as he tried to fight the spell of sleep, he eventually submitted to it. However, it felt like only a few seconds had passed when he heard a scream. Instantly, he rose from his slumber and sat up to find the source of the sound, Maria. He felt himself grow pale and his heart sink. What could have happened to leave her like that? He thought to himself. Lopal's mind was racing, he didn't known what to do, but he didn't give himself too much time to conjure a thought; he was more concerned with calming Maria down more than anything else at the moment. He extended an arm out to embrace her. "Maria, what's wrong?" He asked, his voice shaking with concern and worry.

Maria took a deep breath, waiting for her heart to calm down. Lopal's embrace was helping. "It... It was just a nightmare..." She said with a quiet voice. She'd had nightmares like that one every night since she had come to this place. "I'm ok. I...I don't get them very often."

Keith closed, his eyes, thinking hard. He could understand Adrexa's fear, but they couldn't let fear paralyze them. "I don't know what might happen, but I do know this. Nothing is going to change if we just do nothing." Kihara had stopped her exploring as he began speaking and now stepped forwards, her face uncharacteristicly serious. "My brother is right. We might not be better than humans but we still deserve the same freedom that they have. We aren't going to be free by doing as they tell us or hiding away." "We have to make a stand, for our freedom. If we band together and train our powers, we can do it." Keith continued. He glanced over at Kihara, who looked back at him and nodded. "We don't want to have to hurt anyone either, but we have to do what we have to do."

At the helipad for the academy(I am assuming they have one) a black helicopter touched down. The side door opened to show two sweepers in pristine suits with a boy with white hair and ragged clothing between them. With the first step it became clear the sweeper were hauling the boy by linking the arms with his, but this was not out of any sort of affection. Behind the boys back his arms were bound by thick metal handcuffs that's color matched the large black collar on his neck. The boy's head was hung low with his bangs covering his eyes, but as they passed the classrooms he spoke up in a rather labored voice "You won't....get away with this....you will regret....treating me...like and ANIMAL!" his voice hoarse at the end of his sentence sending him into a violent coughing fit. The sweepers did not bother to shock the boy in response to his outburst seeing as he would not be speaking up for a while, and they were correct; he was silent the rest of the trip to his dorm which for now would be a single.

After setting the boy down on his bed one sweeper left while the other sighed "I would rest up if I were you. Tomorrow is your first day of class after all." After giving his advice he undid the middle bar of the handcuff and walked out locking the door behind him.

The boy sat up and touched his left hand to his new collar and sighed "So this is what you get for being a hero Rex" moments later he collapsed on the bed and passed out.

Adrexa sighed softly and played with a leaf she found. "I see your point. I guess I just am resilient to leave because this is the only home I've ever known."The leaf caught on fire and she tossed it away. "But what if we fail?"

Lopal continued to hold Maria close to him, but he kept his grip loose should Maria want to push away from him for any reason. "Are you sure you're ok?" He asked Maria, his voice still a bit shaken. He was still in a bit of a shock from hearing her yell the way she did. In fact, had it not been for that yell, he probably would have dropped the subject right then and there. "Do you want to talk about your nightmare? Like what happened, or what may have caused it?" Of course she's not going to want to talk about it, but for something to make her scream like that. It's not really something I can ignore...

Maria hesitated, pressing her forehead into Lopal's chest. She wanted to open up to him, to just lay bare all her fears in the hope he could brush them away, but she also didn't want him to see her has weak. The concern in his voice forced the issue. She knew she couldn't keep things from him, when he was so worried about her. "It was when they took me. They lured my out of my father's estate and grabbed me. I was so scared, Lo." She buried her face in his chest, and wrapped her arms tightly around him. "I'm still scared. I tried to put on a brave face all this time, but i'm terrified of this place, of the ones who brought me here. I have nightmares everytime I try to sleep. I just....I can't...I-I..." She trailed off with a sob, her face wet with tears.

Lopal held Maria in his arms with a firmer grip than before, patting her every so often to try and comfort her. His face showed a somber expression. "Maria, I-I'm so sorry. I didn't know..." It pained Lopal to see Maria this way, and it angered him to know that it was the Academy that did this to her. He bit his lip as he tried to fight back his own emotions of distraught and sadness. "I couldn't be there to save you, and I didn't even realize what you could be going through." Without even thinking he kissed Maria on the top of her head, before continuing with his statement. "I can't make up for any mistakes that I might have done in the past, but...But I'm here now. You don't have to pretend to be brave all the time, if you're scared, just come to me and I'll try to make things better." He took a small pause before continuing, hoping to gather his thoughts while suppressing his own emotions. "I swear to you that I'll do everything in my power to try and get you out of here. I don't care what it is I have to do, I'd be willing to do it. Even...Even if it means that I might have to be separated from you again..." As honest as he was, saying the last line made Lopal wince at the thought. He didn't want to lose Maria again, but if it was the only way to get her off the island, Lopal was willing to make the sacrifice.
